RONNIE TAYLOR

Background

  • Ronald Taylor “Coach Ronnie”, was born in Bellflower, CA and raised in San Diego, CA. He attended Juarez-Lincoln Elementary, Montgomery Middle School and Montgomery HS for his freshmen year. The summer leading into his sophomore year, Coach Ronnie moved to Mesa, AZ where he finished out his high school career at Mesa Mountain View HS.
  • Throughout his childhood, Coach Ronnie explored many different sports including soccer, flag football, basketball, and track. He developed an appreciation for competition in athletics, but fell in love with track and field in high school.
  • Combining his passion for track and his ambition to succeed, Coach Ronnie received a scholarship to Hastings College where he participated in the 200, 400, 4x1, 4x4, and long jump. As one of Hastings College’s most successful track athletes, Coach Ronnie was inducted into the Hastings College Hall of Fame in 2019.
  • After college, Coach Ronnie was selected to train at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA, where he pursued his professional career as a long jumper. At the Center, he developed a second passion: coaching! He not only learned how to excel as a professional athlete, but he also took away valuable lessons on how to develop and find success as a coach.
  • Coach Ronnie began his coaching career at Cuyamaca College. Soon after, he made the move to San Diego Mesa College as the long jump, triple jump, and high jump coach. With his passion to influence and mentor athletes through sport and competition, Coach Ronnie established RTA in 2018.
  • As the founder of RTA, Coach Ronnie expresses gratitude and pride for the opportunity to help his athletes improve and excel at their chosen sport. He appreciates his diverse group of athletes who range from youth beginners to professional and olympic athletes.
